The Journey Solutions partnership vision is to make travel by Britain’s bus and train services easier, more convenient and better value for money for customers. Our objective is to make all forms of public transport the first choice for travellers. To achieve this, Journey Solutions works in partnership with and on behalf of bus and train operators and their respective trade organisations.

The Journey Solutions partnership looks at improving the customers' whole journey experience, including:

• travel information before the journey begins and during the journey;
• integrated ticketing for the whole journey;
• easy interchange between different methods of public transport during the day.

The Journey Solutions partnership has two principles underlying its work. These are to:

• create an environment which makes it easier for travellers to use public transport;
• develop integration products that encourage people to use public transport more often;

Achievements

To date, the Journey Solutions partnership:

• has managed the successful implementation of Britain's nation-wide integrated train and bus ticketing scheme called PLUSBUS;
• is now developing a family of related integrated travel tickets;
• is working with public transport operators and their trade bodies to identify more opportunities for better integration;
• encourages and supports operators in sharing integration ‘best practice’ and introducing new integration initiatives;
• works to promote the integration of bus and train services with other modes, such as air, coach and ferry travel.

PLUSBUS is the first major product developed and introduced by the Journey Solutions partnership. PLUSBUS is the only nationally available integrated train and bus travel ticket on sale across the whole of Britain.

PLUSBUS is an add-on to a train ticket, which is bought at the same time as the train ticket. It gives the traveller unlimited bus travel around town, at the start, the finish, or both ends of the train journey. Each town with a PLUSBUS ticket has one zone covering the whole urban area - the passenger can travel as much as they like within this zone. For more details visit www.plusbus.info

Environmental Commitment

Journey Solutions believes that maximising the use of public transport will help to reduce road congestion and contribute to better air quality in our towns and cities. Encouraging more public transport use can also play its part in reducing the damaging effects of global warming.
